About Rose Corbeil

POWER OF ART

The Beginning & Mission

My artistic journey is driven by a constant cycle of trial, error, and correction.

Born in Montreal into a family of artists, Rose's creative journey began with an inherent passion for painting. From an early age, she found herself immersed in a world of artistry, with her father, an artist and teacher, guiding her along the way.

Constant learning became an integral part of her life, and during her youth, she had the opportunity to attend workshops in Europe, where she gleaned valuable techniques that would shape her artistic style.

One remarkable aspect of Rose's artistic pursuits has been her involvement in the restoration of old paintings, some dating as far back as the 1600s. She worked on restoring these pieces for galleries, encountering unbelievable techniques and gaining a deep appreciation for the preservation of historical art. This experience enriched her understanding of the craft and provided her with a unique perspective on the intersection of history and creativity.

In 1993, Rose's talents and skills gained recognition when her own instructional painting show, "Painting with Rose" aired on Videotron. The show featured step-by-step demonstrations, and over the course of 100 live 30-minute episodes, Rose shared her knowledge and techniques with viewers. This endeavor allowed her to showcase her expertise while engaging with a wide audience, fostering a love for painting in others.

Rose's artistic journey

Through repetition, I gain a deeper understanding of materials and techniques, constantly pushing the boundaries of my creativity. I approach my art with an open mind and without fear, allowing me to dive into new ideas and concepts.

As Rose's artistic journey continued, she delved into the world of miniature painting.

I also recognize the transformative power of art. It has the ability to touch our souls on a deep level and, in turn, touch the souls of others. Through my work, I strive to create meaningful connections and evoke emotions in those who experience it.

The prospect of entire exhibits fitting into a shoebox and traveling to international exhibitions fascinated her. She embraced the challenge of creating intricately detailed paintings, some as small as 1" x 1". This pursuit pushed her technical abilities and unleashed her creativity in new and exciting ways.

Throughout her career, Rose has received numerous commissions of varying scales, demonstrating her versatility as an artist.

Her philanthropic endeavors have also been noteworthy, as she has donated her work and actively participated in various fantastic organizations within the art community.

For over 35 years, Rose has found immense joy in mentoring students from diverse backgrounds, sharing her expertise and techniques, and nurturing the next generation of artists.

Rose's passion, dedication, and involvement in the art world have made her a respected and influential figure. Her artistic journey has been one of continuous growth, exploration, and the embodiment of creativity.

I believe that mastery comes with patience. I encourage myself, as well as others, to be patient in our artistic endeavors. The process of creating art is a never-ending journey, and it is important to find joy and fulfillment in every step along the way.

Miniature Gallery

Most miniature artists work with the aid of a magnification of some kind. which can be reading glasses to gooseneck magnifiers .It is a matter of personal preference. My optometrist made me a special prescription that works well for me.

Many media are suitable for miniature art, including water colour, oil, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, pencil, and pastel. Always buy the best quality you can afford. I personally love to work in oil.

Brushes used in miniature painting need to have a very fine point, but also need to hold a good amount of paint and have a comfortable short wide handle to avoid hand cramps.
